More than 1,500 people attended the Fleet News Awards this year to celebrate the 174 finalists, 31 winners and 25 highly commended companies, people and cars: it was a fantastic occasion for the fleet industry, wonderfully hosted by newsreader and presenter (and star of Strictly Come Dancing) Katie Derham.

We had more than 220 entries this year, including more than 50 from fleets – the most ever. It just shows the prestige and high regard in which our awards are held by the industry. Everyone wants to win one and, for many, it is the pinnacle of their careers, especially for the person entering our Hall of Fame.

The judges were impressed with the level of innovation and the very real focus on reducing cost, improving safety and the process of continuous improvement – none of our finalists is content to simply rest on their laurels; they are all outstanding companies and people who are always seeking to do things more efficiently and effectively.
But the evening was about much more than presenting the trophies – it was an opportunity to network, make new acquaintances and meet old colleagues.

As one guest commented: “The fleet industry is a little like living in a village, and it is so rewarding and fun when the community comes together.”
